Lydia Whiteside

Founder & Principal

Lydia grew up in Essex, where dance was a central part of her life from a young age. She began her training in Ballet at Harlow Ballet School before discovering Contemporary and Street Dance, and later fell in love with Musical Theatre at the age of 13 while training with Academy Arts.

Alongside school, Lydia spent her time dancing, performing in numerous shows and productions, and training across multiple styles. She danced with Ballet Russe and performed in a wide range of ballets and musicals, experiences that inspired her to pursue a professional career in the performing arts. At just 15, Lydia began auditioning for professional colleges.

She was offered places at four prestigious London colleges and awarded a Dance and Drama Scholarship, choosing to train in Musical Theatre at Millennium Performing Arts. There, Lydia trained with leading industry professionals and graduated after three years with the award for Best All-Round Performer.

Lydia’s professional career has taken her across the UK and internationally, performing in theatre productions, pantomimes, touring shows in Germany, and Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing in London. She has also choreographed and directed productions abroad and most recently worked in the Caribbean as a Lead Vocalist and Entertainment Manager.

Alongside performing, Lydia has always been passionate about teaching. Sharing her knowledge and helping young performers grow has always been at the heart of her work. In 2021, alongside welcoming her daughter, Lydia founded The Stage Studio, bringing her long-held dream to life.

Today, Lydia feels incredibly proud to lead a supportive, inspiring community of students and families and is excited for the future of The Stage Studio.
